About Me

Ever since I was a child, I have always wanted to go into a career that involved making things, so for the longest time I said that I wanted to be an engineer without really knowing what that meant. It wasn't until I reached high school that I decided I wanted to combine my desire to create things with my love of video games, this led to me pursuing a career in video game programming.

After graduating from high school, I earned my advanced diploma in Mobile Applications Development at St. Clair college. It was in this program where I, with the help of one other person, created my first ever full game (see Figure 1) for the final capstone project. After finishing that, I decided I wanted to specialize more in video game specific programming, and so I left home to study at St. Lawrence college, enrolling in their Game Programming course and graduating in April 2021.

I am interested in nearly every aspect of the game making process, from the fundamentals of game theory, to the intricacies of game design, to the technical logic of programming. I find myself most fascinated with the subtle nuances of creating a good user interface, and so I tend to consider myself to be a bit of a UI snob.

Lightsabers

One of my first assignments from college. You can click on each lightsaber to see its owner, as well as others that use lightsabers of the same color. The site is admittedly quite ridiculous, however this was delibrate. Often our assignments were to show off a skill we had learned by making an app/website about whatever topic, and I quickly found that I got far more invested if I made the assignment more interesting to myself - as I love to make myself laugh, this usually resulted in me making something very silly.
